During the 2023 General Assembly, Lt. Gov. Crouch made history by passionately testifying in support of SEA 1, an uncommon effort for a sitting governor or lieutenant governor. The bill established infrastructure and funding for mental health and addiction services in Indiana.
The inaugural Indiana Mental Roundtable Summit in 2023 and subsequent Indiana Mental Health Roundtable Summit in collaboration with Riley Children’s Health in 2024 served as hubs for learning, networking, and action toward improving the mental and behavioral health of Hoosiers. Under the leadership of the Lt. Governor, these events convened 1000 thought leaders, educators, service providers, and additional cross-sector stakeholders to further the work of reducing stigma, improving the mental health system, and increasing access, affordability, and quality of care.
Central to her mission of bringing people together around mental health awareness and increasing collaboration opportunities to address the needs of Hoosiers, the Lt. Governor held a series of mental health community conversations across the state throughout 2024 to engage with service providers, local leaders, and citizens.
Between 2023 and 2024, Mental Health Matters Day at the Indiana State Fair reached over 35,000 Hoosiers to provide resources related to Indiana’s 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, encourage participation in self care activities, and connect fairgoers with mental health advocacy and service-providing organizations.
